Knowing when not to over treat
MRI’s, X-Ray’s, Ultrasounds, Injections, Surgery…
There’s no shortage of investigations and treatments that can be offered.
But are these actually helping you?
Unfortunately, for many people who enter the medical system they get “over-medicalised”.
We are quick to put a diagnosis and excessively “treat” that diagnosis with medical interventions like above.
For many people this is actually not helpful and there is clear evidence that people are often receiving unnecessary, non-evidence based and unneeded treatments.
Instead, if we actually spent time to understand the person, what is going in their life, how their pain is affecting them and coach them through proper rehab over periods longer than a few weeks, we could provide better and less invasive and detrimental care.
You’ve probably experienced this directly having been sent for scans and multiple specialist appointments only to still be dealing with the same issue.
With experience and a more focused approach it’s possible to understand the underlying causes of what’s going on and direct rehab appropriately through movement and exercise without the use of excessive scans and surgeries.
If you’ve been told you need an MRI, an injection or surgery, then contact us to discuss your needs as we have worked with many people to help them avoid the need of invasive treatments when not needed.
*Of course, scans and surgery are sometimes needed, but it is important to make sure you try proper rehab (not just some passive treatments) over a few months first.
